Ancient Japanese Secret: Marie Louise Cosmetics
I went to a beauty roundtable last week and was introduced to this skincare line that I had never heard of – Marie Louise Cosmetics (www.marielouisecosmetics.com). Well, I’m so happy I’m now aware of this line because upon trying a few of their products, I can now say that I have found another skincare line that is great on and for my skin!
Just to give you some background, Marie Louise was founded in 1912 by a real woman named Marie Louise, who was a former beauty consultant to the Taisho and Shouwa Japanese Emperors. Unlike other skincare products, Marie Louise Cosmetics was the first skin care line to emulsify oil and water into single products. Their skin care features a proprietary Deep Sea Concentrate, which promotes a healthy cellular metabolism and a unique nanoemulsion technology that delivers immediate results, as evidenced by clinical trials. Every product in the line offers anti-aging, skin brightening and hydration, and when appropriate, helps prevent breakouts.
My favorite product from their line is the Cleansing Clear Gel. What I first noticed upon using this product was its unique texture. Unlike other gels, this one is actually more viscous and gelatinous, and once you lather it, it becomes a velvety, soft foam without any irritating or noxious scent. It removes grime as it gently glides over pores to lift away makeup and oxidized oils. And of course, after washing, it leaves no dirt or impurities behind for a fresh, clean feel. The price of the cleansing gel is $57.00.
As stated earlier, deep-sea water is the foundation of every Marie Louise product. Unlike other skin care brands featuring deep-sea water, Marie Louise mastered the art of desalination without degrading the effectiveness of deep-sea water minerals. Marie Louise formulas also contain:
- Alpha-Arbutin: proven to be more than 10x more effective than other skin brighteners and makes a significant difference in helping the complexion appear brighter with a smooth and even skin tone
- Vitamins A, C and E: Vitamins working together to help skin fight against free radical damages and improve skin’s texture, hydration, firmness and smoothness.
- Ceramides: Essential lipids found in the surface layer of skin to keep skin looking smooth and glowing.
- Hydrolyzed Yeast with Superoxide Dismutase (SOD): They work together to help protect skin against oxidation radicals, to improve the appearance of age spots and fine lines.
- Hyaluronic Acid: An acid that is an intense natural moisturizer that helps to maintain the ideal level of moisture in the skin.
- Algae Extracts: Rich emollient that provides hydration and anti-oxidants.
If you check out the packaging, it literally looks like a throwback to something from the early 1900s (Perhaps it’s the original packaging design?). Regardless, as most of us beauty insiders know, since the Japanese are incredibly discriminating and very super-conscious about their skin, today’s Japanese skincare products are quite efficacious and can boast of carrying some of the most sophisticated lines currently out there. Marie Louise Cosmetics are available in the finest salons and skin spas located in Japan, Korea, Russia and, now, the United States!
